The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis is to provide comfort, care and a home-away-from-home for families of seriously ill children. Our objective is to enable families to practice family-centered care by providing them with all of the basic comforts of home.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis has a Guest Service Staff opening. This position is part of a mission-focused team of professionals providing compassion and hospitality to families with seriously ill children.
The Guest Service Staff position is scheduled one to two shifts a month. Shifts include overnight hours. Available shifts are as follows:
- Friday 5:00pm to Saturday 7:30pm
- Saturday 7:00pm to Sunday 9:30pm
- Position is paid for awake and sleep hours
Holiday shifts as needed. Occasional weeknight availability is a plus. This position will be assigned to one of our three House locations.
Basic qualifications
- Must be a minimum of 19 years of age
- Good interpersonal skills
- Customer service experience in working with families, volunteers, customers, or general public
- Ability to respond to and handle emergency and conflict situations
- Ability to follow and enforce policies and procedures
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Ability to manage multiple projects
- Must be able to work independently

Essential Functions:
- Works to create a comfortable, supportive environment for guest families
- Manages House reservations
- Prepares for arriving families
- Gives House tours to returning families, donors, guests and groups
- Receives and documents payments for lodging and merchandise
- Accepts and documents in-kind or monetary donations
- Front desk / reception - Greets and assists visitors, answers phones and doors
- Communicate reports, incidents or emergencies
- Assists dinner group, service group and House volunteers as needed
- Responds to emergency situations occurring in the House

Physical Demands
Must be able to concentrate and remain focused while handling multiple tasks, responsibilities and projects. Must be able to perform bending, twisting, stooping, reaching and lifting of moderate to heavy weight material up to 25 lbs. Must be able to frequently climb stairs, including up to 3 flights, and frequently walk distances up to approximately 80 yards. Must be able to travel between RMH locations as needed.
