About the Role
Roselyn North Academy is seeking a nurturing and qualified Early Childhood Education Teacher to support the learning and development of children in our Sprouts classroom, ages 1-2. This individual will play a key role in creating a responsive, developmentally appropriate classroom environment that promotes the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth of each child. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to child-centered education and collaborative teamwork.
Primary Responsibilities
- Partner with lead teachers to plan and deliver age-appropriate activities aligned with early learning standards and the center’s curriculum.
- Prepare and organize educational materials to support daily routines and lesson delivery.
- Help monitor developmental progress and contribute to individual learning documentation.
Child Engagement
- Interact intentionally with children to encourage learning through play, language-rich exchanges, and nurturing guidance.
- Provide individualized attention and small-group facilitation to meet varying developmental needs.
- Establish supportive, trusting relationships that help children feel secure and confident in the classroom environment.
Classroom Environment & Behavior Guidance
- Support a consistent, inclusive classroom structure where children are respected, encouraged, and supported.
- Reinforce classroom norms and support the development of self-regulation and pro-social behavior.
- Assist in conflict resolution using positive behavior strategies and emotional coaching techniques.
- Model respectful communication, empathy, and appropriate problem-solving skills for children and peers.
Health, Safety, and Licensing Compliance
- Maintain constant awareness of children’s safety, both indoors and outdoors.
- Ensure that classroom conditions meet state licensing standards and center health protocols.
- Help track attendance, student ratios, and maintain an orderly, hygienic classroom space.
- Be CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to become certified) and prepared to respond appropriately in emergencies.
Family and Team Communication
- Provide daily updates and detailed observations to families using the Procare platform.
- Build strong, professional relationships with families by sharing insights and responding thoughtfully to concerns.
- Collaborate regularly with team members to align on goals, share strategies, and contribute to a cohesive classroom approach.
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development to stay informed on early childhood best practices.
Professional Conduct and Collaboration
- Take initiative in the classroom, demonstrating leadership when needed and supporting colleagues with a cooperative mindset.
- Uphold all center policies and procedures, including confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Contribute positively to the school community by celebrating team achievements and supporting shared goals.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; Associate degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education or a related field strongly preferred.
- Prior experience working with infants or toddlers in an early learning setting.
- Understanding of early childhood developmental stages and best teaching practices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Patience, adaptability, and a deep appreciation for nurturing young children.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
