We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Childhood Education Floating Teacher to join our collaborative team. This flexible, support-based role is ideal for an educator passionate about nurturing children from infancy through Pre-K. The Floating Teacher provides critical assistance to Lead Teachers, helping maintain a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
Position Summary
The Floating Teacher supports classroom operations across all age groups, working closely with Lead Teachers to implement curriculum, promote positive behavior, and foster strong relationships with students and families. This role requires adaptability, strong interpersonal skills, and a deep commitment to child development.
Key Responsibilities1. Classroom Support
- Assist Lead Teachers in the preparation and organization of instructional materials and daily classroom activities.
- Support the delivery of developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Contribute to ongoing documentation of children’s progress and behavior.
- Provide daily updates to families through Procare or other communication tools.
2. Student Engagement
- Interact meaningfully with children to support cognitive, emotional, and social development.
- Offer individualized or small-group support to meet diverse learning needs.
- Build nurturing, responsive relationships with students to promote trust and belonging.
- Encourage respect for peers, adults, and classroom materials through guided participation.
3. Behavior Guidance
- Reinforce established classroom expectations and positive behavior strategies.
- Support conflict resolution and model respectful, empathetic communication.
- Collaborate with Lead Teachers and families to monitor and support behavioral growth.
- Serve as a positive role model for students through professional conduct and behavior.
4. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all children in the classroom and on the playground.
- Adhere to licensing regulations and maintain required teacher-student ratios.
- Maintain an orderly and sanitary learning environment.
- Be prepared to respond to emergencies in accordance with safety protocols.
5. Communication & Collaboration
- Maintain clear and open communication with Lead Teachers, administrators, and support staff.
- Share updates with families regarding student progress and classroom happenings.
- Use age-appropriate language and encourage student communication and curiosity.
- Participate actively in team meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate on solutions to classroom challenges, always centering the well-being of the child.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
- Prior experience working with young children in a classroom or childcare setting.
- Understanding of child development and early learning best practices.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Compassionate, flexible, and committed to fostering a nurturing learning environment.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
