Position Summary:
The Design Manager Interiors is responsible for leading interior design projects on behalf of the ownership group (RCG) for land-based hospitality projects Leads consultant teams to ensure that designs are innovative functional and aesthetically pleasing This role involves collaborating with architects contractors and vendors to create spaces that align with the design/user goals set forth by the Product Development team budget constraints and design standards The Design Manager Interiors will work closely with Design Architecture and Product Development Leadership to ensure brand standards are documented and consistent through the development portfolio
The Design Manager plays a key role in the architectural design process contributing creative ideas and technical expertise to projects under the guidance of senior staff members This position involves working collaboratively with project teams to develop design concepts produce drawings and assist in project coordination Fully competent in all conventional aspects of architecture Independently performs a variety of assignments requiring skills in all conventional aspects of architectural designs Performs analyses of design planning and occupancy studies and limited design layouts Will develop design solutions in the best interest of RCG brand(s) and primary market users Attends all coordination meetings manages all notes and disbursement of meeting minutes to relevant parties per the direction of the Sr PM
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Exhibit understanding of leadership in the architectural design process and integration of stand-alone interior projects and design concepts
- Lead interior design efforts and project teams including design direction to ID consultant team on behalf of the Product Development team
- Use graphic storytelling to advance the project delivery and scope
- Develops successful ID consultant relationships
- Prepare in-house presentation packages and effectively collaborate with the Product Development team to achieve project understanding and approvals Develop RFPs review bids
- and recommend contracts for 3rd party ID consultants Review ID consultant work for accuracy omissions legibility
- and document compliance in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual Actively participated in design reviews charettes
- and pin-ups; may be called to lead sessions as they pertain to interiors
- Interfaces with the creative team/project management team during and at the completion of each phase to validate design intent and cost targets
- Demonstrate strong and effective communication and direction which inspires high team performance and design ideas
- Creates and maintains “Brand Standards”
Qualifications Knowledge & Skills:
Over 10 years of professional experience required and bachelor’s degree in interior design recommended Certification as a licensed professional is preferred but not required- 2 years of experience
- Experience on campus style developments (multiple buildings) Experience with theme park hospitality
- Retail / Dining / Entertainment (RDE) projects
- Experience with following programs:
- Revit
- AutoCAD
- SketchUp
- Rhino Creative Suite (INDD
- PS) MS Office (word excel
- power point)
Strong presentation skills (graphic verbal - and written)
- Ability to travel (required) Acts as a representative of the Royal Caribbean Group and demonstrates our values in a competent professional manner
- Knowledge of Cruise ship design preferred An effective communicator in written oral
