Job Title: Service Writer
Reports to: Service Manager
Job Summary:
To ensure customer satisfaction by assisting the service manager and service technicians in the prioritization and completion of equipment service.
Essential Duties:
1. Manage customers and sale of service
2. Provide parts and labor quotes to customers
3. Write and review all repair orders for accuracy and completeness concerning parts, materials and labor.
4. Assist Shop Foreman in assigning jobs and work areas to technicians based on their skills, knowledge and priority.
(Priority: 1) Sold Equipment 2) Down Equipment or In Season Use 3) Rentals 4) Repeat Service Customers 5) Roaming customers
5. Approve the release of equipment for delivery to customer
6. Promote customer loyalty and goodwill while protecting dealership image
7. Assist Service Manager in scheduling service technicians for additional hours during peak seasons
8. Conduct yearly inventory of all shop tools and equipment and maintain that all are in good working condition
9. Monitor and control costs of usable items in the service department
10. Ensure and promote that correct safety procedures are being followed
11. Act as Service Manager in his/her absence
12. All other tasks assigned

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position assists in the direct supervision of all service technicians employed by the store.
Work Environment:
This job operates in both an office and field environment, including exposure to varied weather conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with some evenings and weekends as necessary.
