Position Overview
The Business Solutions Manager leads the Technology and Continuous Improvement department's Business Solutions team, driving process advancement initiatives and operational efficiencies across the Brokerage and Freight Management divisions. This role is central to the development and execution of innovative solutions, spearheading continuous improvement initiatives, and enhancing our service offerings through strategic collaborations with both internal teams, notably the Customer Success Management (CSM) team, and external stakeholders, including Freight Management account managers and their customers. By balancing strategic project management with effective leadership, the Business Solutions Manager ensures our project solutions exceed customer expectations from design through post-implementation support.

What to Expect (Key Performance Objectives):
Within 3 Months:
- Strategic Collaboration and Engagement: Forge and nurture dynamic partnerships with internal and external customers to understand their challenges and opportunities. Your ability to bring people together will be crucial in designing end-to-end solutions that propel growth, drive cost savings, and achieve operational efficiencies across departments.
- Team Leadership and Capability Building: Cultivate a high-performing team adept at managing multifaceted projects and interfacing confidently with customers. Implement strategies for team enhancement, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic goals. Mentor and coach team members to be accountable for delivering projects on time and within scope, as well as continuously elevating their capabilities to manage complex customer interactions and solutions development.
Within 6 Months:
- Comprehensive Project Management and Solution Architecture: Drive the identification and implementation of forward-thinking solutions that address the unique challenges of our internal and external customers. Oversee the entire project lifecycle, from design through post-implementation, including ongoing support and hyper-care phases of new, large-scale logistics applications. Ensure projects are executed effectively, on time, and within budget, while also measuring and analyzing the effectiveness of each project to continuously refine and improve our processes.
Within 9 Months:
- Growth Opportunity Identification: Proactively identify and engage in growth opportunities within customer environments. Work closely with sales and account management teams to explore new business opportunities, leading the solution scoping and customer presentations as required.
Ongoing:
- Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement (Ongoing): Drive process analyses and champion deliver improvements that align with organizational goals. Ensure budget accountability, identify cost-saving opportunities, and enhance overall performance and profitability.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Educational Background
- Essential: 4-year degree in business administration, supply chain, logistics, or continuous improvement, equipping the candidate with foundational knowledge in managing complex business operations and logistics
- Desirable: Further education or certifications in project management (PMP), continuous improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean), or specific technology platforms relevant to logistics and supply chain management.
Experience
- Required: At least 5 years of professional work experience with a strong emphasis on 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) or logistics/supply chain management sectors. This includes a minimum of 3 years of direct experience in managing teams, preferably in a technology or business solutions context.
- Leadership: Demonstrated experience in managing direct reports, including setting clear goals, fostering team growth, development, performance management, and capability development focused on project management and customer service excellence.
- Industry Specific: Hands-on experience with technology improvement programs, operational efficiencies, and innovation within the logistics or similar industries.
Skills and Competencies
- Project Management: Strong experience in overseeing projects from inception through to post-implementation, including planning, execution, and evaluation stages. Ability to manage projects effectively under budgetary and time constraints.
