Job Summary
Performs a variety of semi-skilled jobs to maintain the hospital buildings, equipment and furniture in good repair. Operates boilers and controls generation of a continuous supply of heat to maintain the hospital with heat and hot water, and supply power to machinery and auxiliary equipment.
Essential Job Functions
Performs all preventative maintenance as scheduled.
Performs and maintains daily inspections of all hospital utilities equipment, life safety items and pool.
Makes repairs to maintain the Building and equipment in accordance with Building codes and legal requirements.
Keeps and maintains accurate records in log books and daily timesheets.
May be called in on nights and weekends when emergencies occur or during snow, ice storms.
Performs other duties related to work of the department as assigned. (i.e., On-call, weekend coverage, etc.).

At least one year vocational training in one of the major or equivalent trades. At least two years experience in the related trades or maintenance positions.

Daily exposure to dirt, dust, grime. Frequently works in cramped, unlit and/or unventilated areas. Frequent exposure to cuts, abrasions, burns and or injury from power tools, occasional exposure to falls. May be exposed to inclement weather.

Stands and walks most of the day. Lifts and carries light to heavy weight equipment and supplies. Physical stamina, good eyesight and ability to distinguish colors. Able to work under emergency conditions calmly and quickly.
