Fleet Mechanic
Saber Power Services, LLC, (SPS) headquartered in Houston, TX is a nationally recognized full service, EPC, specialty engineering, procurement, construction and testing and commissioning company specializing in complex medium and high voltage electrical infrastructure in North America.
Saber Power Services operates a large and diverse fleet of vehicles including automobiles, pickups, and forklifts. We are currently seeking a skilled and dependable Fleet Mechanic to join our team and help keep our operations running smoothly.
Position Summary:
The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing company-owned vehicles and equipment, including passenger vehicles, pickup trucks, and forklifts. This position requires a strong knowledge of mechanical systems, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repair procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and make necessary repairs.
- Maintain service records and ensure compliance with DOT and company safety standards.
- Conduct brake, transmission, engine, and drivetrain repairs as needed.
- Troubleshoot and repair gas, diesel, and propane-powered vehicles.
- Coordinate with operations team to schedule repairs and minimize downtime.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of parts and supplies.
- Operate diagnostic tools and equipment to ensure proper repairs.
- Ensure vehicles and equipment are clean, safe, and operational before returning to service.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns or service requests when needed.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification preferred.
- 3 years of experience in automotive or fleet maintenance.
- Experience with light-duty trucks and forklifts (both propane and electric) strongly preferred.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL a plus.
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to read and interpret service manuals and schematics.
- Must be safety-conscious and able to work independently.
- Familiarity with fleet management software is a plus.
