Technician Assistant
Saber Power Services, a portfolio company of Greenbelt Capital Partners, is a fully integrated electrical power system services firm providing end-to-end solutions across utility, renewables and battery storage, industrial, petrochemical, and other markets. Based in Houston, Texas, Saber Power offers deep subject matter expertise and uses an engineering-led approach to designing, installing, testing, and maintaining medium and high-voltage electrical infrastructure. Position Summary:
The Technician Assistant supports certified NETA technicians in the inspection, testing, maintenance, and commissioning of electrical power systems. This entry-level role is designed for individuals seeking hands-on experience in electrical testing while working in compliance with NETA standards, NFPA, OSHA, and company safety policies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist lead technicians with electrical testing of power distribution systems, including:
- Switchgear
- Circuit breakers
- Protective relays
- Transformers
- Cables and grounding systems
- Set up, operate, and break down test equipment under supervision
- Perform visual inspections and basic mechanical and electrical checks
- Accurately document test data and field observations
- Maintain tools, test equipment, and work areas in safe working condition
- Follow all safety procedures, including PPE requirements and lockout/tagout (LOTO)
- Support troubleshooting and corrective maintenance activities
- Travel to job sites as required, including industrial, commercial, and utility facilities
- Assist with job site organization and housekeeping
- Participate in training and development toward technician certification
- Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Basic understanding of electrical theory or power systems (trade school or coursework preferred)
- Ability to read basic electrical drawings and schematics
- Prior experience in electrical construction, maintenance, or testing
- Familiarity with NETA, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety standards
- Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
