Job Summary
Makes fair and accurate disposition of both routine and complex physical damage claims through the determination of liability, application of the merit rating surcharge, and negotiating settlements for adverse demands by other insurers
Duties
- Negotiates with other insurance carriers
- Reviews incoming adverse subrogation claim files
- Assures adequate coverage and determines the status of previous payments on incoming subrogation claims by accessing the Company’s computer system
- Refers active subrogation claims to the assigned Subrogation Specialist
- Gathers information from insureds, claimants, witnesses, and others to determine liability and support settlement offers
- Makes/receives and accepts/rejects settlements/demands from adverse carriers
- Develops and maintains appropriate files and records
- Initiates and documents correspondence via CRT
- Prepares files for arbitration and attorneys
- Develops and maintains a diary, pending, and other files and records
- Performs other activities as required
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred
- A minimum of 3 year’s experience adjusting property damage claims required
- Proven negotiation skills required
- Experience using a computerized system preferred
