Description
SAIC is seeking an RF Engineering Technician to provide on-site support for the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) located on Eglin AFB. This role is not eligible for remote work.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) government personnel and contractors to conduct research and development of new weapon technologies.
- Fabricating cables, interfaces, and prototype breadboard systems up to Form-Fit-Function systems.
- Involves mechanical, electrical, optical, pneumatic, or other technologies.
- Evaluating and testing prototype technology or unit-under-test (UUT).
- Includes mechanical mounting to optics benches, motion simulators, or environmental chambers.
- Involves control room setup, network connections, and lab configuration.
- Electrical interfacing to power, communications, real-time computers, and KHILS scene projection and injection systems.
- Documenting the as-built system and interfacing activities.
- Creating technical documentation (drawings, parts lists, specifications, handling and operating procedures, etc.).
Qualifications
- Ability to obtain and maintain an active DOD SECRET clearance
- Ability to communicate effectively with engineering team and work with civil service or government engineers assigned to the AFRL
- Candidate must reside in proximity to customer laboratory and be able to work in office
- Candidate must have basic technician skills (use hand tools, power tools, microscopes, align/fit/assemble component parts or fixtures, soldering skills, and ability to read schematics
- Desire candidate that can perform maintenance tasks, troubleshoot equipment, repair and upgrade systems/equipment, maintain a safe work environment, and complete routine maintenance tasks
- Highly desire candidate with fabricating experience (mechanical, electrical, optical, pneumatic), mechanical mounting, and electrical interfacing (to power, communications, and real-time computers)
- Ability to reliably use RF test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, etc.
- Familiarity with RF cables/connectors, components (filters, attenuators, etc.), and experience with RF bord layout/assembly/testing/diagnostics
- Experience or knowledge of circuit design/testing
- Ability to document and account for the results of required testing
