Job Summary: The Mechanical Designer II is responsible for adhering to company, department, and client drawing standards and procedures, and having a general understanding of required mechanical sizing calculations, following procedures, and collaborating to prepare design deliverables that meet project requirements under general supervision of the Mechanical Engineer.
- Using data from structural and electrical disciplines, as well as client and vendor information sources, to prepare mechanical drawings.
- Designing a variety of industrial projects with extensive, intermediate use of Revit.
- Proactively communicate and coordinate design work within the department, with other disciplines, and with external stakeholders.
- Produce typical project deliverables, given equipment cut sheets, such as:
- Flowsheets
- General Arrangement/Piping Plans and Sections
- Chute Details
- Ducting
- Piping Isometrics
- 3D Representations (isometrics, perspectives, photographs)
- Accurately size, locate, dimension, and tag mechanical members and components on drawings.
- Issue and record drawing submittals and revisions, and Request for Information.
- Understand layout requirements and routing criteria for mechanical chute, duct, and piping systems.
- Possess working knowledge of equipment practices.
- Establish and utilize an appropriate level of detail between modeling and drafting for both conceptual and detailed engineering stages.
- Associate degree in design drafting or equivalent education and experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in mechanical design drafting with heavy industrial experience preferred.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience producing mechanical models and construction documents from Revit, plus experience with AutoCAD and Office software.
- Excellent communication skills with an understanding of teamwork and the requisite ability to coordinate work with internal and external project stakeholders.
- Strong organization skills to effectively manage time and resources in the most efficient manner. The ability to multi-task on several projects and adapt to changing scope and deadlines. Diligent taking of notes during project discussions. Efficient and organized email communications.
- Minimal travel is required.
- Able to lift 25 pounds, ascend industrial structures unaided.
- U.S. Citizenship. May sponsor the right candidate.
