Salisbury University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Housekeeper.
Primary Job Duties: Under direct supervision this position will maintain building interiors and ensure cleanliness, orderliness and attractive conditions are maintained in assigned areas. Clean assigned areas by washing furnishings, windows, tile, fixtures, equipment and floors. Vacuum, dust and polish specified areas and/or furnishings. Sanitize and disinfect bathroom areas. Gather and transport refuse from assigned areas to appropriate disposal location. Inspect physical condition of assigned areas; submit requests to appropriate personnel regarding repairs, replacements, furnishings and relocation of equipment. Request cleaning materials and supplies from designated areas; mix cleaning solutions according to specifications, load and transport service cart with required materials and supplies to designated work areas. Operate standard cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, buffers, and mops; and move furniture and equipment as required. Set up rooms for events.
Minimum Qualifications: Ability to read, write, and perform arithmetic calculations; to operate assigned tools and housekeeping equipment; to work with chemicals and cleaning solutions; to understand and follow directions; to lift up to 30 lbs. and move furniture, equipment and supplies; to transport refuse; and to wear and work in personal protective equipment.
Preferred Qualifications: High School diploma or GED preferred. Two years’ experience with housekeeping equipment and/or duties preferred.
The position is full-time, non-exempt State positions with full benefits. Starting salary will be $15.00 per hour which is approximately $31,286 annually with a 2.5% increase after satisfactorily completing a six-month probationary period. The primary schedule associated with this position is Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm, with occasional weekends required. This position is also considered essential meaning the position is expected to report for work in emergency situations such as extreme weather conditions when the campus may be closed.
