POSITION SUMMARY
The Orthopedic Urgent Care/Walk-In Clinic Advanced Practice Provider (APP) plays a crucial role in providing timely and comprehensive care. Responsibilities will include conducting thorough assessments, diagnosing orthopedic conditions, and implementing appropriate treatment plans. The APP will collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons and other healthcare professionals within the orthopedic clinic. The APP will contribute to the efficient and effective delivery of orthopedic care, ensuring high-quality patient outcomes and satisfaction. The APP will be the first provider that many patients will interact with when seeking care at our practice and will strive to provide a white glove service. This position requires strong clinical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work both independently and cohesively with a multidisciplinary team. Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician assistant, along with both Kansas and Missouri licensure is essential for this role. Experience in orthopedics or urgent care is preferred.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
• Patient Assessment and Examination:
o Conduct thorough physical assessments and examinations of patients with orthopedic concerns.
o Interpret diagnostic tests such as Xray's, MRIs, and CT scans.
o Conduct Sano Motion Capture examinations to assist orthopedic sports medicine providers in the decision to return patients to play.
• Diagnosis and Treatment:
o Diagnose orthopedic conditions and injuries.
o Develop and implement appropriate treatment plans.
o Administer injections, prescribe medications, provide appropriate patient education, and create home exercise programs.
o Facilitate referrals for advanced imaging orders and rehabilitation (PT/OT).
o Prescribe and apply appropriate durable medical equipment, casting, and bracing.
o Facilitate appropriate follow-up with internal and external providers.
• Collaboration with Healthcare Team:
o Collaborate with orthopedic physicians, APPS, and orthopedic navigators to discuss complex cases and formulate treatment strategies.
o Seek guidance and supervision when necessary.
o Form relationships with both internal and external partners to facilitate close follow-up on referrals within imaging and rehabilitation facilities.
o Attend all mandatory full staff and clinical meetings.
• Urgent Care/Walk-In Clinic Services:
o Provide urgent care/walk-in clinic services for orthopedic injuries and conditions from 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.
o Decipher patients able to be managed outpatient vs those that may need direct admission to local hospital facilities.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
• On-Call Services:
o Participate in APP call pool at designated on-call facilities.
o The on-call team will be responsible for after-hours surgeries, consultations, and inpatient rounding. This includes after 5pm M-F and weekends during the assigned call week.
o Call weeks will be evenly distributed amongst APP call pool. If there are scheduling conflicts, “trades” may be made amongst APPs in the call pool.
o APPs may be compensated per weekend day or Sano observed holiday while on call. • Documentation
o Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
o Document patient encounters, diagnoses, and treatment plans in the electronic medical record.
o Address patient concerns and questions both in person and via patient messaging system.
o Upload Sano Motion Capture reports to the electronic medical record.
o Assist in enrollment and documentation in patient reported outcomes measures system.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned SKILLS • Understanding of Internal Classification of Diseases (ICD) and Common Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding • Proficient knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy • Strong customer service skills • EMR experience (eClinical Works preferred) • Highly detailed and accurate, with excellent organizational skills • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; expresses thoughts and ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing; establishes trust and confidence quickly • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office (primarily Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS). • Must be computer literate with the ability to learn new software applications

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Board Certified Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Nurse
• State Licensed (or eligible for License in MO and KS)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• At least 1 year of experience in orthopedics is preferred.
