Teacher Assistant - Hughes Early Learning Program

Valid CA Assistant Teacher Child Development permit desired (Required for funded programs). 6 months - 1 year of experience working with children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old in an infant, toddler or preschool early learning or group child care program CPR and First Aid Certified Must be in good health, able to lift 30 lbs. chest high, and pass a physical exam Must be able to walk, squat, bend and stand; ability to move freely to supervise and engage in indoor and outdoor activities with children. KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Assist in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum directly connected to the needs and interests of the children. Knowledge or understanding of Developmentally Appropriate Practices, PITC, Preschool Learning Foundations, Desired Results Developmental Profile, Teaching Pyramid and Inclusive practices preferred. Keep children safe and healthy through proper supervision, authentic interaction and practicing good health habits. Assist in creating exciting and enriched environments connected to curriculum and quality learning experiences. Communicate regularly with parents to support, guide, and share in their child’s development. Work collaboratively with other staff by practicing workplace values, flexibility, and being a team player. Provide excellent customer service for families, school, community and each other. HOURS: 35-40 hours per week, 12 months. Hours vary depending on location. Must be available to work between the hours of 7:15am to 5:30 pm, Monday - Friday. Programs are open year-round. Hours, schedules and locations are subject to change when school is not in session based on the needs of the program.
