Job Summary
In addition to Respiratory Therapist Level III or IV requirements, assists providers in diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopies to both outpatients and inpatients in the operating room, endoscopy lab, or at the bedside. Functions as a coordinator for all bronchoscopy based pulmonary clinical research studies at SMHCS. Collects data for review by Bronchoscopy providers under the direction of the SMHCS Pulmonary Council. Acts as a technical expert between providers, Pulmonary Council, Respiratory Care Services Director, and patients. Leader of Bedside Bronchoscopy Team including management of competencies and training for this team. Aids in scheduling and communication with providers, endoscopy, and anesthesia. Maintains and manages bronchoscopy equipment, oversees proper cleaning and adherence to regulatory agency requirements for bronchoscopy lab therapists and others responsible for cleaning bronchoscopes. Assists with ordering of supplies and communicates equipment needs through proper channels. Communicates practice changes and updates to all bronchoscopy lab personnel. Coordinates, with the Respiratory Care Services Educator, initial training, competency maintenance, and education requirements.

- Prefer additional credentials RRT-ACCS.
- Prefer five (5) years of bronchoscopy lab experience.
- Prefer familiarity with infection control regulatory guidelines.
