What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Superintendent position at Sarasota Memorial Health Care System?
Construction Superintendent Opportunity
Estimates, schedules, procures subcontractors, negotiates consulting general contractor contracts, organizes capital project permitting with consulting general contractor and appropriate review agencies, organizes construction activities with the other hospital departments, and, in general, is the internal general contractor for the health care system. Submits construction documents to agency having jurisdiction for permitting. Participates in the public selection process for procurement of professional and general contracting services and professional services. Reviews construction documents for standards and code compliance. Assumes responsibilities of Director, Architecture/Construction as assigned.
Required Qualifications:- Require a Bachelor’s degree in related field. Relevant general contracting experience can substitute on a year for year basis for the required degree.
- Require a minimum four (4) years general contracting experience in high rise, health care capital construction projects.
- Prefer demonstrated knowledge of related building codes as documented by current CEU’s in the following: Florida Building Code, A.I.A. Guidelines for Health Care Design and Construction, National Electrical Code and Life Safety Code 101.
- Prefer demonstrated ability to perform project budget monitoring and scheduling.
- Prefer demonstrated technical writing ability.
- Prefer demonstrated ability to speak in public and conduct presentations.
- Prefer demonstrated contract negotiating skills.
- Prefer demonstrated ability to interact and interface with all levels of staff and management
