The primary responsibility of the Equipment Operator is to safely operate heavy machineries, such as front-end loaders and material handlers with a clamshell bucket, to handle petroleum coke in the Valero refinery in Port Arthur, TX.
What you will be doing
Contribute to a coke-handling team by operating several pieces of equipment that will help move, stockpile, and prepare petroleum coke for distribution
Operate any one of the following on a daily basis is a plus: a CAT 980 Loader (or equivalent) and Senebogan 850
Perform thorough pre and post-trip inspections
Maintain cleanliness of equipment
Expand personal knowledge of operating equipment
Report maintenance issues to the maintenance crew
Understand our critical service requirements and see they are met
Take an active role in our safety program including attendance at all safety meetings and ensure safe behaviors
Ensure environmental compliance
What we need from you
Extensive experience operating large pieces of heavy equipment
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
Because this position operates in the Valero Port Arthur candidates:
Must meet refinery standards for entering the plant, i.e. clean criminal history, ability to pass a hair-follicle drug screen, possess a current Driver’s License and TWIC card at the time of applying
Should understand best practices of maintaining and safely operating Heavy Equipment
Must be safety-conscious and understand safe work practices for a refinery
Must be comfortable with heights including the ability to walk up and down conveyor belt lines and climb ladders
