Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities
Perform scientific and medical research work and participate in the planning of research projects, from study design, implementation and coordination to completion, monitoring and analyzing data, conducting clinical assessments of patients and supervising researchers; exercise responsibility for project performance and progress and, when necessary, identify modifications or improvements necessary to the design of research protocol; perform research work in an independent manner
Collects and analyzes charts and data on inpatients and outpatients who are participating in research projects, working with statisticians and other experts to assemble data to include a detailed review of statistical data
Oversee the input of data and maintenance of specified databases for projects for accurate reporting; provide data reports in an acceptable format to recipients and assist in analyzing the data
Prepare research reports and write abstracts and/or manuscripts that are suitable for submission to peer review journals and/or presentation to professional societies; create and develop source documentation
Interact with research subjects and their families to communicate procedures and significance of the study and recruit patients for research studies, obtaining their informed consents to participate in studies; act as patient advocate
Develop and follow study protocols in scheduling of tests and procedures
Attend and present at local and national professional meetings; participate in study group meetings
Collaborate with fellows and residents on research projects and oversee research activities of medical students; supervise office support personnel with data input duties
Provide guidance to other clinical research personnel with all aspects of research study protocols including regulatory submissions, research patient recruitment and evaluation, and research study data organization
Required Skills/Abilities
Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in field of assignment
2-3 years experience in clinical research
CCRP (Certified Clinical Research Professional) preferred
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within clinical research
Must have proficient computer skills in a Windows environment; spreadsheet software knowledge a plus
Critical thinking skills and time management skills are required
Must have ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision
A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required
Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with other health professionals as well as substantial interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with patients, their families, staff, the community, and physicians
