Assistant Controller Position Summary:
We’re currently seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Assistant Controller to join our dynamic team and help drive financial excellence in our growing organization. The Assistant Controller plays a key role in all aspects of financial operations, supporting the Controller and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist with the month-end closing process, including account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and accrual preparation.
- Prepare and analyze project cost reports, identifying variances and cost overruns.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement) according to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) for the civil construction industry.
- Assist in external audits, providing necessary documentation and support to auditors.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting, providing financial data and analysis to support informed business decisions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller.
- Prepare monthly sales tax returns for multiple states
- Help provide financial training to project team members
- Help analyze, improve and develop financial reporting tools for accuracy and efficiency.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Minimum 2-4 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within the construction industry.
- Bookkeeping Experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP and construction accounting principles.
- Proficient in ERP software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and Adobe.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
