What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aftermarket Teardown Specialist position at Seakeeper Inc?
WHAT YOU’LL DO
It takes a lot of parts and pieces to create and support a gravity-defying product and we are passionate about our vision – 71% of our Earth is covered by water and we want everyone to make the most of it. We make an extraordinary product and some might say it defies gravity! As our Aftermarket Teardown Specialist, you’ll help us to reduce waste and become more sustainable by quickly and efficiently breaking down returned Seakeeper units and preparing the components for reuse in a remanufactured Seakeeper. You’ll make an immediate impact and contribute to our Aftermarket operations by:
- Receiving returned Seakeeper units and positioning them in the teardown queue
- Quickly and efficiently disassembling Seakeeper units, protecting components that will be repurposed from damage as well as collecting and delivering unusable components to recycling sites
- Verifying components by measuring and visually inspecting completed components; rejecting and immediately reporting products outside test and quality specifications
- Operating an industrial truck and/or electric hoist for loading or moving materials and products
- Safely loading, unloading, and moving materials within the worksite utilizing hand/power tools
- Cleaning work area, machines, and equipment using brooms, rags, and cleaning compound to assist machine operators
- Transporting materials to or from storage/designated worksites using a hand truck, electric dolly, hand-operated crane, or hoist
- Checking and maintaining material and tool inventory

MUST HAVES
- A minimum of 1 of related experience working in a manufacturing assembly environment with a strong mechanical aptitude
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Desire and ability to work autonomously and ability to multi-task with minimal supervision
- Thrive in down-and-dirty, hands-on work, working indoors and sometimes outdoors
- Possess quality focus, sound judgment, and decision making
- Ability to read, understand, and assemble items with the aid of blueprints
- Willingness to gain knowledge of product and manufacturing processes
- Superior verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly present information
- Ability to take detailed and clear notes that can be retrieved and understood by all managers
- Able to operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and pallet jacks and adhere to standard operating procedures and job safety parameters
- Able to bend, twist, stand and walk most of the shift as well as lift and transport equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- Possess conceptual, process improvement, functional and technical skills
- Ability to communicate (verbal and written) fluently in English
- Able to prioritize tasks within the department and act in a flexible and positive manner toward tasks at hand
NICE TO HAVES
- Ability to use precision measuring equipment such as depth mics, snap mics, and temperature gauges
MORE DETAILS YOU’LL WANT TO KNOW
- You’ll be based in our Leesport, PA facility full-time
- This position will work Monday through Friday from 6 am - 2:30 pm
- On-the-job training will be provided (we will help you become the Seakeeper expert!)
- You’ll report to the Aftermarket Teardown Supervisor, also based in PA
- This is a manual labor position, working within our manufacturing plant
YOUR TEAM
Our Aftermarket Teardown Specialist is nestled within our Aftermarket Department. The Aftermarket production team will churn out as many remanufactured Seakeepers as we can to change our customer’s boating experience forever!
