Position Summary
Seattle Central College is looking for innovative and dedicated faculty members, who have a demonstrated commitment to working within a college community that is diverse and serves students from a broad spectrum of socioeconomic and academic backgrounds. Faculty will teach part-time in a wide range of sociology courses. Successful applicants will have the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, staff and others in a campus climate that promotes cultural diversity and multicultural understanding in an urban environment.
Successful applicants may be invited to interview at Seattle Central College. Specific teaching assignments will be dependent on the instructor's background, scheduling, and available courses.
Candidates should be willing to teach in a variety of formats such as in-class, hybrid, online and varied class times including days, evenings, and weekends according to program needs.
This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by AFT-Seattle.

Essential Functions
- Teach course content related to apparel product construction and development.
- Assess student performance and provide timely, comprehensive and constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of student academic achievement and attendance in accordance with college and program policies.
- Maintain office hours for student academic advisement, consultations and referral of students to college resources for assistance when necessary.
- Work collaboratively with other faculty to implement course content.
Qualifications
- Should have a minimum of an AAS degree or its equivalent in fashion or a related field.
- Broad knowledge of the fashion design and development field with a minimum of 5 years professional apparel industry experience
- Previous teaching experience or the equivalent in providing a minimum of 5 years of employee supervision, training and or management.
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform a range of physical motions, exerting up to 25 pounds; lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds; standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, kneeling, squatting, and stooping; and traversing up and down stairs.
