What We Need:
Seattle Pacific University is seeking a dynamic and spiritually grounded individual to serve as the Director of Student Ministries and Campus Pastor . This key leadership role oversees the spiritual formation of the student body and provides guidance, mentoring, and supervision to Student Ministries staff and student leaders. The Director is a visible and accessible spiritual leader who fosters vibrant worship experiences, service opportunities, and a campus culture rooted in Christian discipleship.
What You'll Do:
- Lead and oversee all aspects of the Student Ministries department including chapel, student worship, and service outreach initiatives.
- Supervise and develop staff and student leaders with a focus on spiritual formation.
- Design and coordinate worship services and gatherings (e.g., Chapel, Group) in collaboration with the School of Theology and campus leaders.
- Facilitate student small groups, Bible studies, and mentoring opportunities in partnership with Residence Life and campus departments.
- Provide pastoral care and spiritual support to students, including crisis response.
- Partner with church and denominational leaders, and serve as SPU's liaison to the Free Methodist Church.
- Participate in university-wide events and committees, offering insight into faith development and campus spiritual life.
- Co-chair the Campus Ministry Council alongside the Dean of the School of Theology.
Requirements:
What you bring:
Required Qualifications
- Earned Master's degree; seminary-trained or in a related field.
- Significant experience leading spiritual development and discipleship efforts in a university or similar setting.
- Proven ability to support and engage students across a wide spectrum of backgrounds and spiritual journeys.
- Strong leadership, administrative, and communication skills, including public speaking and preaching.
- Deep understanding of and ability to promote a Wesleyan/Holiness theological perspective.
- Affirmation of SPU's Statement of Faith , commitment to our mission and willingness to live by and support the lifestyle standards of the Christian community.
Preferred Qualifications
- Earned Doctorate in a related field. Ordained (or ordainable) in a Wesleyan/Holiness tradition.
