What are the responsibilities and job description for the SUD Peer Support Specialist position at SEAVIEW COMMUNITY SERVICES?
This position includes a $2,000 hiring bonus and relocation reimbursement up to $2,000.
We have openings for full or part time Peer Support Specialists at our Recovery Center in Seward, AK. Our Peer Support Specialists provide mentoring, encouragement and advocacy to adults who are in recovery from substance issues. They provide support to clients to take an active role in the development and implementation of their own treatment goals. Our Peers may work in the office, community or at client residences, and provide in-person services.
Personal life experience with recovery from substance use is required. Experience working with adults or youth with mental illness or addictions and knowledge of recovery process is preferable. Previous clients of behavioral health services are encouraged to apply. An educational level of a High School Diploma, a valid driver’s license and reliable daily transportation is required. Flexibility, dependability, strong written and verbal communication, computer skills, and the ability to be a team player are essential. Evening or weekend work will be required. Must be able to work independently, use sound judgment and have good boundaries.
Other: TB test, pre-employment drug/alcohol screening, criminal background check and satisfactory driving record.
