Position Overview
Our client, a boutique investment management firm based in Boston, is seeking a Senior IT Support Engineer to join its technology team. This role is ideal for a highly capable, hands-on technical professional who is comfortable serving as a senior resource, supporting approximately 200 employees, and providing a blend of end-user support, system administration, and light technical leadership.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise across the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, endpoint management, identity and access, and collaboration technologies-while also mentoring junior team members and helping guide IT best practices within a fast-paced, high‑expectation environment.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & Leadership
- Serve as a senior escalation point for L1 and L2 issues, ensuring timely and high‑quality resolution for end users across the firm.
- Provide hands‑on guidance and day‑to‑day mentorship to junior IT engineers, helping develop their technical and customer service skills.
- Act as a technical lead on projects and initiatives as needed, partnering with IT leadership to define and execute team priorities.
Microsoft 365 & Core Infrastructure:
- Administer and optimize M365/O365 applications including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Security & Compliance Center.
- Manage user provisioning, policy configuration, license assignments, and service health monitoring.
- Support and maintain Windows Server services, including patching, GPOs, authentication roles, file/print, and DNS/DHCP.
Endpoint & Device Management:
- Oversee device deployment and policy management using Intune/Endpoint Manager, including compliance configurations and automated workflows.
- Enforce device security baselines and ensure consistent standards across the environment.
Identity & Access Management:
- Administer Active Directory and Azure AD, including organizational units, group management, GPOs, conditional access, MFA, and hybrid identity processes.
- Support authentication and access governance across critical firm systems.
AV, Conference Room, and Collaboration Technologies:
- Configure and maintain AV systems, Zoom Rooms/Teams Rooms, and conference room technologies used daily for internal meetings and client interactions.
- Troubleshoot A/V, video conferencing, room scheduling equipment, and connectivity issues.
Automation & Scripting:
- Develop, maintain, and enhance PowerShell scripts to automate routine administrative tasks, improve operational efficiency, and enforce configuration standards.
Qualifications
Required:
7 years of experience in IT support, system administration, or related technical roles
Strong experience with:
- O365/M365 administration
- Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager
- Active Directory & Azure AD
- Windows Server administration
- AV/Zoom/Teams Room setups
- PowerShell scripting (advanced proficiency)
- Experience supporting end users in a professional, high‑expectation environment (financial services experience a plus).
- Ability to guide, mentor, and support junior engineers.
- Excellent communication skills with a customer‑centric mindset.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize effectively.
Preferred:
- Prior experience in investment management, private equity, hedge funds, or financial services
- Industry-relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft 365, Azure Admin, CompTIA)
- Experience in small or mid-sized IT teams where versatility is essential
- Exposure to cybersecurity tools and practices
This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days per week onsite in the firms Boston Office, 2 days remote. At this time the team is unable to provide visa sponsorship.
Salary : $80,000 - $100,000
