About the Role
We’re hiring a Staff Engineer to join a high-impact engineering team supporting a diverse fleet of power generation assets. This role focuses on coal and biomass-fired operations, providing advanced technical leadership across boiler systems, emissions control equipment, fuel handling, and plant performance optimization.

What You’ll Do
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in coal and biomass combustion, boiler operations, and APC (Air Pollution Control) systems.
- Provide engineering oversight for fuel contracts – reviewing specifications, identifying reject limits, and advising on impacts to equipment and emissions.
- Offer support on emissions control systems including Wet FGD, Dry Scrubbers, Mercury Control, and potential DSI systems.
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to troubleshoot plant issues and optimize performance.
- Lead technical projects tied to sootblowing systems, fuel procurement strategy, ash and waste handling, and compliance.
- Support regulatory strategy through understanding of PJM dispatch cost methodology.
- Engage with OEMs, vendors, and internal stakeholders to drive innovation and reliability.
What We’re Looking For
- 8 years of relevant engineering experience in power generation, utility operations, or industrial combustion systems
- Deep knowledge of boilers, APC equipment, emissions technologies, and fuel handling
- Strong understanding of environmental controls and their impact on plant performance
- Experience working with sootblowing systems, FGD, Dry Scrubbers, Hg control, or DSI
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (ABET accredited or equivalent per Washington Accord/PE license)
- Excellent communication, project leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
- PE License (or previously held)
- Exposure to PJM market operations and cost modeling
- Veteran engineers (E5–E9, W1–CW5, O3–O6) strongly encouraged to apply

Salary : $100,000 - $120,000
