Position Summary:

Position Responsibilities:
- Manage, develop and mentor a team of staff accountants and accounts payable specialists.
- Assures compliance with federal, state and local tax regulations (filings re: returns) as well as compliance with State funding and audit requirements.
- Researches and analyzes accounting matters.
- Provides support and prepares work papers and supporting schedules for the annual financial audit.
- Coordinates monthly closing process.
- Maintains documented system of accounting policies and practices.
- Leverages systems and software to provide critical financial and operational information.
- Coordinate the yearly financial audit and 990 filings to meet reporting deadlines.
- Oversee the AP, Payroll, and General Ledger functions.
- Preparation of monthly journal entries and supporting schedules, including accruals, prepaid, and fixed assets.
- Evaluate, assess and monitor performance of direct reports.
- Assign and adjust workload in a manner that capitalizes upon individual professional strengths.
- Conduct performance reviews and develop appropriate training and performance plans.
- Foster on-going staff development to ensure maximum transferability of skill between functions as appropriate.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages professional growth and development.
- Promote a culture of accountability, integrity, customer service, efficient processes and continuous improvement within the finance department.

Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field.
- At least 5yrs experience within the field.
- CPA highly preferred.
- Advanced computer skills, specifically in Excel, and other financial management systems.
- Understanding of financial data analysis and reporting.
- Knowledge of payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Ability to deliver quality work on tight deadlines, with strong organization and priority setting skills.
