JOB SUMMARY:
The Payroll Tax Specialist will be a key contributor to the Human Capital group and assist in tax payments, tax registrations and quarterly tax filings. In this role you will work with ADP Tax and all applicable tax jurisdictions to resolve tax notices, and/or any tax agency communications. You will be responsible for proactively creating and documenting tax procedures, processes, and communications to ensure that all tax responsibilities are completed accurately and within applicable deadlines.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Understand tax withholding requirements for multi-state and local taxes.
- Registering with State/local/city tax on an employee and employer level and act as a liaison between government agencies and ADP
- Understands statutory requirements and tax issues related to payroll.
- Ensure compliance on filing and payroll tax reporting.
- Handle all tax agency notices.
- Develop a strong working relationship with external tax contacts to accurately and efficiently support the filing and funding of payroll taxes for Federal, State, and Local jurisdictions.
- Audit tax reporting (monthly, quarterly annually) data for accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Creates and documents tax processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
The qualifications listed below are representative of the elements required to perform the job successfully, however in some cases, an equivalent combination of Education, Training, Certifications and Experience may meet the job qualifications.
Education, Training, Certifications:
- High School diploma/ GED
Experience, Knowledge, Skill Requirements:
- 3 years of tax experience working with multiple local/state tax accounts, strongly preferred.
- Advanced Excel knowledge.
- Excellent organizational skills; with high quality standards.
Communication Skills:
- Must have the ability to effectively read, write and communicate in English with employees and customers.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Systems and Software Skills:
- Ability to operate a computer, use Microsoft Office required.
- Experience with ADP and/or Timberline (Sage), preferred.
Other Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required.
- Must be able to comply with SFPH's Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements, which may also include customer specific requirements based on contractual agreement.

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for long periods. Employee will occasionally be required to bend, kneel, balance, lift <20lb, walk, stand, ascend/descend stairs, drive, twist, and reach above and below shoulders. Employee will frequently be required to drive and walk for periods.
Work Environment:
Employee will consistently be required to work indoors in an office setting, work alone and with others. Employees will occasionally be required to work outside, and be exposed to hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards and noise. Employee must occasionally wear all appropriate personal protective equipment, as required by company safety policies while visiting locations.
