Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have experience in providing high-quality nursing care to patients with mental health conditions. Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop individualized care plans based on psychiatric evaluations.
- Administer medications and monitor patient responses, ensuring adherence to treatment protocols.
- Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and their families regarding mental health issues.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical standards.
- Monitor vital signs and perform necessary medical procedures such as IV insertion, phlebotomy, and medication administration.
- Engage in patient education regarding treatment options, coping strategies, and lifestyle modifications.
- Participate in case management and discharge planning for patients transitioning out of acute care settings.
- Stay informed about current best practices in psychiatric nursing, including knowledge of ICD-10 coding and NCQA standards.
Qualifications
- Current nursing license (RN or LPN) in the state of practice.
- Experience in behavioral health or psychiatric nursing is preferred.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner is advantageous.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology relevant to psychiatric care.
- Strong assessment skills with the ability to triage patients effectively.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in memory care settings is a plus.
- Proficiency in acute pain management techniques and familiarity with hospice & palliative medicine practices is beneficial.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment while maintaining professionalism at all times.
