Job Overview: The Wellness Coordinator promotes healthy lifestyles for SMSC Community members, employees, and their families, assists with accessing appropriate health services, provide health and wellness education opportunities, and encourage cost-effective use of health resources. Ultimately, the Wellness Coordinator strives to improve the health and well-being of SMSC Community members, employees, and their families and at the same time reduce costs associated with poor health. Promotes wellness events and participates in various fitness training programs in support of those events. Complies with HIPAA rules and maintains all patient information confidentially and securely.

The SMSC has donated more than $400 million to organizations and causes, provided $500 million in economic development loans to other tribes, and contributed millions more to support regional governments and infrastructure. Create Your Path: The Work You’ll Do:
- Plans, designs, and delivers a wide range of health and wellness programs for SMSC Community members, employees, and their families.
- Administer health screenings for employees as part of a health risk assessment to include biometric testing, health questionnaire, and recommendations to reduce or eliminate health risks.
- Provides health education opportunities for staff on various wellness and health-related topics as requested.
- Designs and develops wellness and health education materials to include but not limited to booklets, brochures, displays, posters, newsletters, and calendars.
- Periodically evaluates the Wellness Plan to assess participation levels, participant satisfaction, changes in behavior and health indicators, and overall effectiveness of the Wellness Plan.
- Promotes wellness events and participates in various fitness training programs in support of those events.
- Successful completion of an associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
- Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse by and in good standing with the Minnesota Board of Nursing. Or, if not trained and licensed as a Registered Nurse, must meet the following educational
- Successful completion of an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Fitness, Health and
Additional requirements include:
- Must have at least two years of health promotion, wellness, or closely related work experience.
- Good computer skills to include MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as other health care or business
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
