Job Title: Experienced Ophthalmic Scribe
Location: Berkley, MI On-Site

About Us
Position Summary
The Ophthalmic Scribe will work directly with physicians to document clinical encounters, perform accurate calculations related to ophthalmic measurements, and assist in maintaining a smooth patient flow. The ideal candidate will have prior ophthalmic experience, superior attention to detail, and a strong understanding of medical terminology and ocular anatomy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately document patient histories, examination findings, diagnoses, treatment plans, and procedures during patient visits
- Perform and verify ophthalmic calculations (e.g., IOL calculations, refractive conversions, prism measurements, etc.)
- Ensure all patient data is correctly recorded in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Assist providers with interpreting test results and preparing documentation for surgical planning
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient health information
- Support clinic operations as needed to enhance patient care and efficiency
Qualifications:
- 1 year of experience as an ophthalmic scribe or technician in a clinical setting
- Strong grasp of ophthalmic terminology, calculations, and diagnostic procedures
- Proficiency in EHR systems (e.g., NextGen, Allscripts, or similar)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Certification (COA, COT, or COMT) preferred but not required
