The Divisional Controller reports to Shoppa's Material Handling (SMH) Corporate Controller and interacts with the Shoppa's Mid America (SMA) and SMH department managers in implementing and executing the Company’s accounting policies, controls, and in reporting on the financial health and operations of SMA. Strong communication skills, intellectual curiosity, creativity, a commitment to quality and process improvement, and a strong desire to learn are required. You will be responsible for SMA’s internal and external accounting and financial reporting functions. Duties include the development and implementation of accounting practices and operations, internal controls, internal and external financial and regulatory reporting, audits, process improvements within the accounting team, and the development and leadership of a strong, service-oriented team. This foundational role presents an opportunity to learn and shape accounting processes for a rapidly growing business. This opportunity represents Shoppa’s Mid America and requires professionalism, strong communication skills, attention to detail, great attitude, and outstanding customer service.
Essential Functions:
- Signatory for checks and contracts by signing after reviewing to ensure that backup documentation is correct and has proper approval. Involves uploading data to bank system, approving check exceptions on their system. Including generating all outgoing domestic and international wires by input in bank system for approval by CFO
- Manage cash flow position by uploading daily cash report with data from AP, Cash Application and downloaded data from bank system. Highlighting issues or potential shortages to CFO
- Assist collection by AR meetings monthly by territory and branch where AR is given 100% review and focus set by each relevant collector, manager or aftermarket territory manager
- Internal audit to assure protection of business assets through internal controls, audits and reviews
- Provides information to all departments and branches as required by them to carry out their assigned responsibilities
- Oversee building maintenance and office supplies by coordinating all activities related to same
- Perform s profit & loss reviews across all departments and branches set in conjunction with CFO – including variance reviews, expense analysis, vendor alternatives and allocation issues
Qualifications:
- BA in accounting, finance relevant field (CPA a plus)
- 10 years in a similar role
- Strong interpersonal skills and a team player
- Great customer service and attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
