Cafeteria Worker

Position Summary:

Assist in ensuring the day-to-day tasks of an onsite cafeteria are maintained.  The majority of this position will include dishwashing, stocking and replenishing food, beverages and supplies, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and serving areas, and ensuring a pleasant experience for customers.

Essential Functions:

Other duties may be assigned, requested, or directed.

• Clean and organize eating, service and kitchen areas, including sweeping, mopping and dishes
• Assist in inventory management, including restocking supplies
• Accept payment from customers via the point of sale operating system and make accurate change as necessary
• Serve customers during meal breaks in a courteous and efficient manner
• Potential to prepare daily food items, and cook simple foods and beverages, such as sandwiches, salads, soups, pizza, or coffee using proper safety precautions and sanitary measures
• Follow health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and storage procedures
• Select food items from serving or storage areas and place them in dishes or serving trays in an attractive manner
• Notify Cafeteria Team Leader of shortages or special orders
• Communicate with customers regarding orders, comments, and complaints
• Count till at beginning or end of shift and provide report and money to accounting department

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• English language required. Spanish language a plus
• Basic mathematic skills
• Ability to stand for extended periods and to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Working Hours:  

• Day Shift Hours Monday through Friday, with an occasional half day Saturday. 
• Full-time and Part-time inquiries
