Job Description :
The MUOS team, under our Space, Cyber & Intelligence Systems (SC&I) line of business, assists in the management and operation of the orbiting satellites through the deployment of the MUOS ground system.
The system includes four ground station facilities positioned worldwide, each equipped with three freestanding antennas that act like cellphone switches, receiving radio calls relayed through the MUOS satellites.
GD provides the user-entry and integrated ground segments for the system, which will replace the military's current narrowband tactical communications system.
MUOS covers everywhere, supporting warfighters worldwide on patrol in hostile environments, whether urban, canyon, mountains, or jungles - or even the Arctic Circle. The system provides a familiar cellular phone-like service, allowing forces on the ground to communicate directly with others at higher levels of quality and much greater capacity than available through the current system.
Not only do we maintain the current live system, but GD added new capabilities, enhancements and replaces end of life components. Currently, it is the largest program within SC&I.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related Science or Mathematics field.
Also requires 5 years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.
Clearance Requirements :
Department of Defense SECRET security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Candidates must be able to obtain SECRET clearance within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire. Applicants selected may be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
The client is currently seeking a Network Design Engineer in our Scottsdale, AZ location.
The experienced Network Design Engineer we seek will design and plan network systems, as well as provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
You'll deliver specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
Using your extensive network knowledge, you'll coordinate third party maintenance for network equipment and troubleshoot problems with department users and department network administrators.
We'll rely on you to maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, hubs, bridges and gateways, etc.

What you bring to the table :
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

Develop and provide innovative and creative solutions to a variety of difficult problems of considerable scope and complexity, using established precedent and policies
