Position Summary
The Product Engineer is responsible for leading team efforts of engineering design, development and support of new and existing products.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead product design through development and launch ensuring the product is conforming to design intent through product drawings, specifications, and validation.
- Provides engineering support to product line teams, purchasing and supplier quality for continuous improvement activities (e.g. scrap reduction, yield improvement, cost reduction, uptime, cycle time).
- Develop and maintain product drawings, DFMEAs, verification plans, test procedures, reports and other engineering and quality documentation.
- Aids in problem solving by determining root cause and corrective measures for warranty returns.
- Lead / support activities related to development and delivery of prototypes.
- Function as primary technical contact with the customer.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience/Knowledge Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.
- 3-5 years of related experience; experience in the automotive industry or in a global manufacturing company preferred.
- Understanding of drawing and GD&T concepts
- Understanding and experience with various manufacturing processes – machining, stamping, molding
- Problem solving experience
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good organizational and project management skills
- MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Database (Access, dBase), LabView, CAD, etc.
- Continuous Improvement and /or Cost Saving project experience
- Automotive industry standards and process knowledge: SORs, APQP, PPAP, MSA, FMEAs, TS 16949, etc.
