What are the responsibilities and job description for the Peer Recovery Coach position at South Middlesex Opportu?
SUMMARY
Provide non-clinical, peer-based activities that engage, educate and support an individual in their recovery from substance use.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide individual and group support to referred clients.
Establish a recovery plan with each individual client and update regularly
Facilitate 2 to 3 recovery groups with recovery topics weekly
Maintain minimum monthly contacts per client
Provide related information and referrals to community-based resources
Educate client on the recovery process to the best of your ability
Assist client in becoming independent by reinforcing a healthy lifestyle
Maintain accurate client files and records; complete required paperwork
Drive clients to appropriate recovery activities
Engage all clients by understanding and addressing their needs whether within or outside the scope of work.
Collaborate and communicate with staff as needed
Attend & participate in team meetings as requested
Communicate effectively with clients and staff in other areas.
Maintain confidentiality of client, employee and agency information in accordance with federal and state laws and funder requirements.
Ensure compliance with program/department, agency and/or funder requirements, as well as, SMOC policies & procedures
Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Must have lived experience with substance use and be in recovery.
Recovery Coach Academy Training, preferred
The ability to work independently
Strong written and verbal communication skills – bilingual is a plus
Excellent organizational skills in order to keep up with the administrative responsibilities
Valid MA driver’s license, reliable transportation and ability to meet insurance standards
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
Reports directly to Recovery Coach Supervisor
Direct reports of this position are none.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to drive.
Ability to ascend and descend stairs.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position may be located in a residence which may not be handicapped accessible. Some travel with recoverees is required. As part of the responsibilities of this position, the Recovery Coach will have direct or incidental contact with recoverees served by SMOC in various programs funded or administered through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. A successful background check is required. Dress is business casual.

For example: 8:00am-4:00pm , one day a week working through 6:00pm There is some flexibility with the work schedule. 35 hours per week
