General Description of Position
Under the direction of the Apprenticeship Director, the Apprenticeship Coordinator will be a point of contact for employers, mentors, and apprentices participating in SCC’s Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP). The Apprenticeship Coordinator will assist with recruitment, training, support, and data tracking for business partners and apprentices as well as provide education on the registered apprenticeship model to faculty, staff, employers, and communities in SCC’s 15-county service area. This is a full-time temporary, grant funded position with a maximum renewal cycle of up to 36 months (expected end date of June 30, 2026), but may be ended at any time or extended depending on the continued availability of grant funding. Regular work hours for this position are generally between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Community Outreach
Connect with community-based organizations, workforce development boards, industry groups and labor organizations, promoting growth and expansion of RAP opportunities. Host a quarterly workshop for the public to educate them on apprenticeships. Assist with the planning and execution of presentations and awareness activities during National Apprenticeship Week/Month each November. Assist with planning, executing, and recording minutes of an annual advisory board meeting, for individual industries, to gather feedback and implement new Registered Apprenticeship Programs using the Business & Industry Leadership Team (BILT) model.
Support the Establishment of New Apprenticeships and Occupations
Recruit and enroll apprentices into SCC’s RAP. Apprentices may vary in age to include high school students, traditional college aged students, and adult learners. Meet with individuals who are interested in the apprenticeship program to discuss their career goals and find apprenticeship placement. Meet with apprentices quarterly to discuss progress and struggles. Refer apprentices to appropriate resources to overcome obstacles such as financial, childcare, transportation, tutoring, and housing. Communicate with employers, managers, human resource staff, and mentors to answer questions and provide technical assistance.
Develop Technical Assistance Resources
Research best practices for building apprenticeship programs. Develop educational resources and marketing materials to promote the expansion of SCC’s RAP and determine effective ways to share these resources with others. Conduct train-the-trainer mentor training sessions for industry staff that volunteer to mentor apprentices during on-the-job training. Survey participants to gather feedback.
Promote and Provide Access to Registered Apprenticeship Programs Among Underserved Communities and Underrepresented Minority Populations
Work with College’s Marketing and Communications staff to translate and publish outreach materials and technical assistance resources in multiple languages. Participate in minority focused events to promote apprenticeship to minority populations. Strengthen and/or establish connections with community groups and organizations that serve underserved populations to increase awareness of the apprenticeship model.

Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in business, accounting, project management or related field.*
- Minimum of four (4) years professional level work experience in business, accounting, project management or related field.*
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, project management or related field plus two (2) years of professional level work experience in business, accounting, project management, skilled, technical science, or related field may be substituted for the requirements above.
Desired Qualifications
- Working knowledge of cost principles and administrative procedures applicable to federal grants.
- Education or work experience in project management, grant management or similar work experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, skilled, or technical science field.
