Summary
Applying for this position will place you in a general temporary pool of candidates with Southeast Missouri State University for non-benefit eligible positions in departments and campuses throughout the University. Qualified applicants are placed into temporary administrative assistant assignments as positions become vacant; when regular employees are absent; during peak work periods; and for special events. Temporary administrative assistants may work up to 29 hours per week.
Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides administrative support to the assigned departmentÂ
- Performs computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheet and database,Â
- Processes department requisitions, invoices, expense reports and transfers
- Orders department supplies
- Answers and directs department phone calls
- Schedules appointments and meetings for the department
- Enrolls students in education courses and maintains course wait lists (if supporting Academic unit)
- Organizes and processes textbook orders and advising assignments (if supporting Academic unit)
- Handles confidential materials
- Oversees training, scheduling and work assignments for student workers
- Attends and records minutes of department meetings
- Assists current and prospective department students
- Any other duties as assigned by supervisor
- High school diploma or GED
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize detailed information to make sound, independent decisions with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated bookkeeping skills
- Ability to initiate and maintain positive relationships with students, faculty, staff and the public
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service
- Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multi-cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities
