Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Physical Plant Services invites applications for the position of Mechanic 3. This position is responsible for overhauling and repairing University equipment (vehicles, specialty trucks, construction equipment, lifts, generators, grounds maintenance, etc.). Duties include performing routine maintenance and diagnosing malfunctions on vehicles and equipment, such as gears, rings, crankshafts, valves, seals, etc. Candidates must possess a valid Louisiana Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger Transport Endorsement and be able to be certified through the Southeastern Defensive Driving Course. Must possess valid Refrigeration Certification. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Three years of experience as a mechanic. SUBSTITUTIONS: Training as a mechanic from a trade school, vocational-technical school, or military school will substitute for the required experience. Training will be credited in six month increments.
