What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physical Therapist position at SOUTHERN INYO HEALTHCARE DISTRICT?

JOB SUMMARY:  The Physical Therapist is responsible for the supervision of PTA’s. Also provide quality Physical Therapy Evaluations /treatments to inpatient and outpatients in a hospital setting.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Physical Therapy Degree - Graduation from a physical therapy curriculum acceptable to the Commission on Accreditation in Education of the American Physical Therapy Association and approved by the California State Board of Medical Quality Assurance.

 

Experience:  5 years of outpatient experience; 1 year of skilled nursing facility experience;

 

License or Certification:

A current California Registered Physical Therapist license

BLS (Basic Life Support) through the American Heart Association are required

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

· Ability to follow written and oral directions · Computer skills required · Demonstrates high level of personal and professional accountability and responsibility · Self-directed and performs duties independently · Ability to problem solve and apply critical thinking skills · Must have the proven ability to maintain confidentiality · Must demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills · Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate daily work flow to ensure department needs are met · Must be flexible, dependable, and demonstrate the ability to adapt to change

     Bilingual preferred

Does Not Meet Expectations/standards:  Established goals and responsibilities are not met.   Does not demonstrate competencies critical to job performance.  Continued guidance or supervision required to meet expectations.  Needs to improve performance immediately.  Note: A performance improvement plan is required for employees receiving a Does Not Meet rating.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide physical therapy services by conducting evaluations, plan, organize and administer treatment programs and protocols, and generate goals
  2. Observe and evaluate treatment effects, make appropriate changes with therapy staff and recommend change to physician as needed
  3. Ensure staff demonstrate knowledge and proficiency of therapy modalities and use of equipment
  4. Ensure therapy staff meet current documentation standards and policies accordance with insurance and therapy Practice Act Guidelines
  5. Ensure that patient charges are accurate and submitted on a timely basis 
  1. Participate as the therapy representative on interdisciplinary review team
  2. Coordinate, delegate and supervise responsibilities assigned to supportive staff
  3. Demonstrate an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations
  1. Represent and promote the department in the community and to referring physicians
  2. Accountable for compliance with all State and Federal regulations
