The Opportunity
The Breakthrough Manchester Advisor will assist in running the Breakthrough Manchester College-Bound at SNHU (BTM-CB) program. The BTM-CB is a tuition-free program guided by a mission to give continued support in academic growth, educational enrichment, college-readiness, and essential skill-building to highly motivated, under-resourced high school students while inspiring the next generation of well-rounded leaders and educators.BTM-CB continues the college-access pipeline for students who entered the program as rising 7th graders through Breakthrough Manchester at the Derryfield School. BTM-CB seeks to complete its mission through dedicated advising and support of students, college access and success curriculum on eight College-Bound Saturdays, and a college success culture and community.
Pay Rate: $12.50.hr
In this Role You'll Get To:
Check the progress of 4-6 high school student advisees weekly through virtual progress reports and respond with academic suggestions and feedback
Update supervisor regularly and attend monthly check-in meetings
Meet with students and attend half-day workshops at least 8 Saturdays per school year
Be available to respond to students' questions/concerns within 48 hours
Participate in advisor professional learning community meetings and professional development sessions
Facilitate weekly or bi-monthly study hall meetings at the Manchester High Schools for homework help, check-ins, and support of BTMCB students
Plan and lead at least one Saturday workshop per school year for the students
Submit regular progress self-reflections and reflections on advisee progress
What we're Looking For:
Must be a current college student enrolled in an undergraduate program
Years of experience: 0 to 1 years of experience
Degree(s): high school diploma or equivalent
Hard-working and well-organized
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Tech-savvy, including competence in Google Suite
Desire to learn and grow alongside an incredible population of under-resourced students
Nice to Have:
Previous experience in tutoring, mentoring, or teaching
