SPCA of Wake Countyis seeking a full-time Intake Specialist to join our busy and stellar team of animal welfare advocates. Intake Specialists are responsible for coordinating the intakes of dogs, cats and other animals (guinea pigs, rabbits, & other small mammals) entering our adoption program, while collecting all necessary information and maintaining an excellent level of customer service. Intake Specialists provide information to the public about pet retention services and schedule appointments for pet surrenders and pet transfers from shelter partners.
We are actively seeking an Intake Specialist who will represent SPCA of Wake Countyin a professional and courteous manner while providing friendly, helpful client service in our Intake & Adoption Centers. The specialist should have experience with animals and understand animal behavior and safe handling skills.

Qualifications and Education :
Must love animals and care about people.
A high school diploma is required.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule (including Saturdays and Sundays). Our Intake Center is closed to the public but our intake team works 7 days a week.
Candidates must have leadership skills, be eager to learn, show initiative, possess great customer service skills, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment with minor supervision.
Animal experience is a must including knowledge of behavior and handling.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following :
Interacting with the general public, specifically in regards to pet retention and pet surrenders and communicating in such a manner that maintains a friendly experience
Interacting with and getting to know the pets in our care, therefore having a better understanding of the current animal population at our Intake & Adoption Centers
Willingness and ability to learn about cat and dog behavior, common issues, and ways to address them
Ensuring that necessary paperwork and information is gathered for intakes and that all data entry is accurate
Assisting with disease control and cleaning of designated areas throughout the day as needed
Reporting signs of illness, disease, injury or unusual activity to medical team
Treating all pets and people humanely and with compassion always, regardless of the situation or circumstance and promoting a humane and caring attitude
Maintaining a friendly demeanor and providing good customer service at all times
