What are the responsibilities and job description for the Counselor position at Spectrum Health Systems, Inc.?
Location: Burkeville, VA, the Nottoway Transitional Men’s Work Release program’s mission is to teach low-level inmates who are 9-12 months from release of incarceration effective coping skills to lead a pro-social, drug-free life.
Schedule: Sunday –Thursday, 11am-7:30pm with a 30-minute unpaid meal break.
Pay rate: $28.846/hr. ($60,000 annually) Candidates with a CSAC, CADC, or equivalent license/certification are eligible for a pay rate of 31.25/hr. ($65,000 annually).
The Counselor is responsible for:
Conducting comprehensive assessments and individual treatment plans within established timeframes.
Facilitating psycho-educational and process groups as defined by the curriculum.
Providing individual counseling according to timeframes established per program and documenting each session according to policies and procedures.
Maintaining clinical records in accordance with contractual and Spectrum standards.
Serving as a role model/mentor for program participants while maintaining professional boundaries and addressing participant issues, concerns, and inappropriate behaviors promptly and in accordance with Spectrum’s clinical design.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Human Services field is required.
State certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) in the state of Virginia or similar certification/license recognized by the Virginia Board of Professional Counselors is required within two (2) years of signing job description.
