What are the responsibilities and job description for the Busser position at Spinoza's Pizza & Salads?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Perform any and all tasks that are reasonably required to ensure the smooth operation of the restaurant and to improve the dining experience of our guests.
Ensure the even flow of food production and guest services through the removal of used tableware between courses; clear, clean and reset tables after guest leaves. Serve guests water and beverage refills as requested by either guests or servers. Check cleanliness of all areas of the dining room and restrooms.
ESSENTIAL PROFESSIONAL FUNCTIONS:
• Promptly greet guests at door if host is unavailable.
• Remove soiled tableware between courses or when no longer used by the guest.
• Organize plates, utensils, smallwares, and paper goods in server stations.
• Take soiled tableware to dishroom and unload, sort and stack silverware, dishes, glassware, etc. in designated areas in the soiled dish drop off area.
• Between seatings promptly clean table tops, chairs and booths. Check floor and clean as required. Reset and arrange tabletop.
• Inspect and clean high chairs and booster seats.
• Restock glassware in server station and bar.
• Monitor dish and glass levels -- requisition replacements as needed.
• Sweep dining room and entry ways as needed.
• Conduct daily inspections of dish room areas looking for sanitation and personal injury hazards.
• Recognize and report all necessary maintenance promptly.
• Inspect assigned restroom every 30 minutes and clean as needed.
• Empty trash bins in restrooms, bar and server stations as needed.
• Respond appropriately to guest requests. Communicate guest requests to servers.
• Suggest improvements to the operating format.
• Assist server as needed with food delivery, especially with large parties and during peak periods.
• Thank guests as they are leaving
• Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
• No previous restaurant experience required.
• Stands during the entire shift (up 6 hours)
• Working knowledge of the English language.
• Reaches, bends, stoops, shakes, stirs, and wipes.
• Lifts and carries racks and cases of up to 70-lb up to 20 times per shift.
• Reading and writing skills required.
• Immerses hands in water frequently.
• Hazards may include, but are not limited to, cuts, burns, slipping, tripping and injuries due to repetitive movements.
