Position Summary
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing, packing, labeling, and coordinating shipments of products and materials to customers and rep agencies. This role ensures accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with shipping standards and internal procedures within a manufacturing warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare outgoing shipments including picking, packing, and labeling materials.
- Verify shipping documentation, contents, and accuracy against customer orders or internal requisitions.
- Schedule pickups and deliveries with carriers (UPS, FedEx, LTL, etc.).
- Maintain shipping logs, bills of lading, and inventory records in ERP or tracking system.
- Communicate with internal departments (e.g., production, sales, customer service) to ensure order fulfillment.
- Read sales orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
- Prepare shipments from sales order/packing slips for team to ship to customers.
- Stack shipments in designated locations using pallets or cargo boards.
- Maintain equipment storage areas to ensure that inventory is protected.
- Inspect shipments for damages and report issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Operate forklifts or pallet jacks to move and stage materials as needed.
- Assist with inventory control tasks such as cycle counts or receiving.
- Follow all safety policies and warehouse procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized shipping area.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1 year of experience in a shipping/receiving or warehouse role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with shipping systems and carriers but not required (UPS WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager, etc.).
- Basic computer skills and experience with inventory systems or ERP software.
- Ability to lift up to 6 0 lb s and stand for extended periods.
- Forklift certification is a plus (or willingness to be certified).
