SUMMARY
The Financial Aid Counselor is a team member of the Student Financial Services department reporting directly to the Assistant Director. The Financial Aid Counselor manages daily operations of awarding students Federal, State and/or institutional aid. Our counselors analyze all aspects of financial aid, optimize technology use, and provide students and parents good financial aid advice in accordance with Federal, State, and institutional regulations and policies, while maintaining excellent customer service relationships.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned by proper personnel.

Our counselors analyze all aspects of financial aid, optimize technology use, and provide students and parents good financial aid advice in accordance with Federal, State, and institutional regulations and policies, while maintaining excellent customer service relationships.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned by proper personnel.
- Provide in-depth counseling of individual students pertaining to their unique circumstances by counseling students (and parents, as appropriate) in person, on the phone or through email
- Ensures compliance with all financial aid policies, procedures and regulations when reviewing financial aid applications.
- Knowledge of Federal Title IV awards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain records for assigned students. Monitor enrollment status of recipients to assure compliance with State and Federal regulations
- Notifies students of changes in awards if needed, due to verification and changes in enrollment.
- Resolve compliance and academic related issues with other campus departments.
- Process loans including outside scholarship checks and the adjustment of disbursements when necessary.
- Maintains professional connections in state and national financial.
- Assist team members when necessary to enable the success of the department.
- Other tasks, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to exercise independent discretion and judgment in performing duties.
- Must be able to prioritize and complete multiple tasks with occasional interruptions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Microsoft Office skills required (primarily Word and Excel).
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
- Strong organizational skills.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in related field required. 1-3 years related experience and/or training preferred. Experience working in multicultural academic environments preferred, and individuals from diverse populations are encouraged to apply.
