SUMMARY
The Program Director position of SAU Radio is responsible for all aspects of audio production and promotion, including creative interactions with the community through current digital platforms and developing the talents of the student staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned by proper personnel.
- Supervise and train on-air student personnel.
- Oversee all aspects of audio production, including commercial production.
- Importing new music as requested.
- Develop and implement station events and on-air promotional contests.
- Maintain station(s) website, social media, and digital platforms.
- Maintain the station’s broadcast equipment and perform updates and repairs as needed.
- Ensure station compliance by maintaining public and EAS station files.
- On-air voice tracking as assigned.
- Participate in university committees as assigned and requested.
Key Result Areas: Ensures SAU radio on-air audio and promotions remain consistent with SAU's mission embodied in the Concept. Maintains and ensures that broadcast websites, social media, and digital platforms align with SAU Radio's mission and brand. Provides top-notch customer service, resulting in no customer complaints. Develops effective station promotions to support the goal of financial sustainability. Maintain broadcast equipment to provide a quality audio product for the listeners and supporters.
REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES
Reports directly to the General Manager/Sales, showing care and respect for team members and the SAU Community by embracing the principles of the SAU Community Covenant.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job requires supervising SAU Radio student staff. The employee carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Good organizational & word-processing skills are necessary. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and/or other production/editing software, on-air automation systems, Excel spreadsheets, and MS Word required. Ability to prioritize, complete multiple tasks & possess good interpersonal, communication, and writing skills. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in broadcast communications or another related field. 3-5 years of radio experience is preferred but not required, as experience in hosting an on-air show, programming, promotions, or other related duties is helpful.
