Position Title:                  Part Time Summer Fun Teacher aide                   

Classification:                  Non-Exempt - Non-Union

Salary:                              $14.00 per hour              

Position Summary:        

Preschool teacher aide must demonstrate the skill and competence necessary to contribute to each child’s cognitive, emotional, social and physical development.  This position is for a 6 weeks Summer Fun Program.    The days date and times that the program will run is Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30am – 12:00pm, June 4^th  through July 16^th.

Specific Responsibilities:

Teacher aides shall work under direct supervision of an early childhood teacher and shall not assume

full responsibility for a group of children.  Teacher aides will be responsible for setup and clean up 

of snack time.   Preparing art projects for the teachers, and organizing back room activities for the 

children.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Preschool teacher aide must have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate (GED)

General Requirements:

·       Must be able to read and write and have good command of the English language.

·       Good oral and written communication.

·       Emotional maturity when working with children

·       Cooperation with the purpose and service of the program.

·       Respect for children and adults

·       Use of positive discipline and guidance techniques.

·       Sensitivity to children’s socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds and individual needs and capabilities.

·       Must present a neat and professional appearance.

·       Responsible to follow policies and procedures outlined in Springfield Park District employee manual.
