What are the responsibilities and job description for the PRODUCTION TECH position at SRT Aluminum?
The Production Tech is the entry level foundry position at SRT Aluminum from which other foundry positions within the company are typically filled by. A Production Tech will operate mobile equipment such as forklifts and skid steers on a daily basis as well as work hands-on with the casting of aluminum.
Sign on bonus! $500 after 90 days and an additional $500 after 6 months of employment.
The essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:
Responsibilities:
- Work and learn different foundry jobs.
- Casting aluminum sows by pouring transfer crucibles into molds.
- Dross removal by skimming molten aluminum
- Stacking and banding ingot
- Preparing finished goods for warehouse by weighing and marking
- Quality inspection of finished goods
- Assist furnace operators in cleaning furnaces
- Assist in dross and raw material handling
- Assist lab technician with sampling
- Cleaning and maintaining all foundry work areas
- Follow all safety rules, regulations, and policies of the company.
- Follow directions as may be given by management.
- Work with others in order to ensure that we are satisfying our customer requirements, being responsible for each other’s safety, and working as a team to continually improve.
Physical Demands:
A foundry is a physically challenging work environment. The employee must be able to physically:
- tolerate extreme temperatures of both heat and cold
- tolerate occasionally working outside in various weather conditions
- operate pieces of mobile equipment such as forklifts and skid steers
- Carry up to 50 lbs
- Stand/Walk on concrete for long periods of time
Position Requirements:
1. Ability to work and communicate well with others.
2. Some administration skills are helpful.
3. Some mechanical aptitude, equipment familiarization, and general math is helpful.
4. Flexible to work different jobs and shifts as needed, Overtime (OT) as required.
5. Occasional moderate heavy lifting is required.
Minimum Education or Experience:
1. High School or G.E.D. preferred, not required.
2. Forklift and/or skid loader experience preferred but not required.
3. Experience working in a foundry preferred but not required.
