What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cloud Architect position at SS Solutions?
Comtech is seeking an experienced and visionary Cloud Architect (Senior Level) to lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable and secure cloud-based solutions. The Cloud Architect will work closely with enterprise teams, business owners, developers, and infrastructure engineers to ensure that cloud initiatives align with strategic goals and architectural standards.
This role requires deep expertise in cloud technologies, infrastructure automation, and modern DevOps practices. The Cloud Architect will help establish cloud standards and drive innovation through adoption of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) models.
The Cloud Architect (Senior Level) will be responsible for tasks including but not limited to:
Designing and implementing secure and scalable cloud architecture solutions
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define cloud strategies and implementation roadmaps
Supporting cloud-native application development across Azure, AWS, and GCP platforms
Developing and maintaining IaC (Infrastructure as Code) scripts using Terraform, Ansible, and similar tools
Defining and enforcing cloud architectural standards and policies
Managing containerized applications using Kubernetes and orchestrating automated deployments
Administering Linux environments and writing automation scripts in Bash or PowerShell
Supporting continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
Providing technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to development and infrastructure teams
Ensuring all cloud solutions comply with organizational security, compliance, and performance standards
Expertise and/or Relevant Experience:
Mandatory Qualifications & Experience - Cloud Architect (Senior Level)
M1. 7 years of experience in cloud architecture, infrastructure engineering, or DevOps
M2. Proven experience designing solutions across Microsoft Azure, AWS, and/or GCP
M3. Strong background in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, or similar
M4. Experience with Kubernetes and containerized deployment of applications
M5. Proficiency in Linux system administration and scripting (Bash, PowerShell)
M6. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and modern DevOps toolchains
Desirable Qualifications - Cloud Architect (Senior Level)
D1. Experience developing or supporting cloud-native applications using .NET, PHP, or Java
D2. Experience integrating services from multiple cloud providers in hybrid or multi-cloud environments
D3. Familiarity with enterprise security and compliance practices for cloud workloads
D4. Strong understanding of performance optimization, cost control, and cloud monitoring practices
D5. Experience supporting cloud transformations or migrations for large-scale organizations
D6 Knowledge of Fairfax County or other public sector IT architecture standards
Salary : $125,000 - $175,000
